Adsense Comic Sans Disaster

You may have heard that Google Adsense now also uses Comic Sans. I was just visiting this page http://www.ndesign-studio.com/stock-icons/. It’s from a design studio. Naturally they want their design look as great as possible. Unfortunately the Google ads displayed on page were using Comic Sans. Painful.
They should ban Comic Adsense.

Google Analytics new version

I have a Google Analytics account but I can’t say I’m a big fan. The main reason is that it’s too hard to use. Fortunately this seems to change as they have announced a new version.
The main difference (I quote from their blog post) is this:
We’ve redesigned the reporting interface for greater customization and collaboration. [...]

Bad Ubuntu internet connection tutorial

You have installed some linux version. Let’s assume it is Ubuntu. Unfortunately, you have a router setup that needs you to connect to it with WPA. No WPA connection means no internet. No problem, there are many tutorials available to make your life easier. Or do they?
Let me carefully state the initial condition again: you [...]

(Re)Design for evolution, not revolution

When you are designing your pages, or have them designed by someone else, it is good to take the following advice in mind:
Design for evolution, not revolution.
The reason behind this is simple. Google doesn’t like big changes. If one day you are no longer pleased by your design, and decide to revolutionize the way it [...]

getting links for your design

One of the things you’ll have to do at least once for your website is to create a design for it. Now there is a simple method to get incoming links just with your design. Here’s how it goes.
First you browse the web for a great design. Preferably a website that is known a bit [...]

focusing and the future

A lot of time has passed since I wrote my last blog post. I do mean to post again but it will be a bit more focused on a special theme.
I didn’t meant to make this blog one with an abundance of readers. It was more aimed at trying things out and see what I [...]

A webring of friends

Suppose you need to evaluate a person. Not just for a job or something like that, but you have to see whether he would make a good friend. One that is reliable and subscribes to the same high values you do: honesty, integrity, friendliness, caring, etc. Now the only problem is that you can’t see [...]

Writing nothing means less traffic?

In my previous post I noted that traffic had gone up although I didn’t write anything for some time. After that short post I wrote nothing for quite a few days and I looked at my traffic stats again this morning. The funny thing is that the increased traffic did not stay but instead diminished [...]

Writing nothing means more traffic?

I have been very busy lately and didn’t find the time to ramble here. But I just checked my stats and the funny thing is that my visitor count got a modest boost from that. I don’t know what the reason can be. There are rumours though that Google doesn’t like change that much (compared [...]

Google is like a box of chocolates

A couple of years ago someone suggested we should see google as a black box. We don’t have access to the inner part of google, but we can feed it input and examine the output. I still think that is a valid way of looking at it, and far more people should experimenting and reporting [...]
